EC's in a certain situation (crux: do i seem like a resume builder? cuz IM NOT!)

is it bad to add on many new EC's junior year? It's just ive found new interests, opportunities, etc. These ARE NOT to build my resume. Also, in terms of writing, I write casually but want to become more serious. Does this look iffy if i do this as well? I feel like colleges will say "hmm.. not much soiph and fresh and then so much junior and sneior this guy is just looking to get in" and I wish I could be ther to say "Nononono that's really not true at all." Gosh, maybe im just being super-neuortic. Perhaps this is what the interview is for?

PS There are no, I repeat, NO creative writing classes at my school and parents are prohibiting me fromtaking one during august. i just do freewrites (mostly jounralistic) right now.

Well if the EC's are not to pad your resume, then why do you care how they will look to adcoms?

i'd say that the "unwritten rule" is to not starting anything senior year. you're fine with junior year i think because often times more doors will open up to you as you get older and deeper into high school.

for example: at my school, NHS inductions are only at the end of your junior year

norcalguy: good question. as youve seen around this board one can be passionate about what they do and still care about their college applications. a good way to know if one is passioante about something is to ask oneself "if there was no such thing as college, would i still be doing this?" if the answer is yes (in my case) then that's the truth. also, i have not mentioned this but i have decided to stop doing things that im not really passionate about (e.g. stock market competititon, art club @ cranbrook (i love art, but this is more a "club" rather than "art"). k, hope that answers your question.
