ECs - What if I didn't do anything major until junior year?

I've done my ECs informally since freshman year (some before), but...I haven't actually done anything major. There are things I have planned (actual plans and arrangements, not "I think I'll do this!" :p) this year, but I'm going to be a junior.

Does it matter that I've actually been doing them for longer? Would it be dishonest at all to put them down as ECs for all four years even though I haven't actually participated in classes, competitions, etc. until this year? My schools never had anything interesting for clubs, so all of my ECs (except for volunteering) are things that I've done on my own, so this makes me even more worried.

Thanks...

Can you give an example of an EC you’ve done informally on your own? I’m a little confused…

I think it’s okay if you do stuff on your own. There are a ton of people who take dance classes, have jobs, and things like that and obviously their schools don’t provide those options for them. As long as you’re involved in SOMETHING outside of class, whether it’s relevant to your school or not, I think you’ll be fine.
