ECs?

I’m applying to schools starting this fall, so I’ve been thinking about my application will look a lot. Right now I’m concerned about my ECs. I don’t have much except the stuff I do through my church (I’m pretty active though; I lead our children’s worship every third Sunday and I occasionally play piano for the adult’s service as well. I also take turns with my friends in leading our Friday night Bible study and participate in our children’s choir. All of this accounts for about 35 hours of community service per year) I’m in a few school clubs also, but I’m only members in most of them. The only leadership position I have is when I was treasurer of my school’s Anime Club, and since we’re changing things up by voting for officers this upcoming school year (the past two years when I’ve done it is when the teacher who runs the club appointed me to do it), there’s a possibility I might not be able to do it this year.

Is there anything I can do to make my ECs more appealing, or is it too late?

I’ve heard it said that schools don’t give much weight to ECs that students join in their senior year (because some think it’s just for resume-padding). But it’s okay, quality is better than quantity. As long as you’ve learned enough from Anime Club and your church that you can talk/write about your experiences in a mature way, it should be good enough for colleges. Don’t pressure yourself into joining a bunch of ECs just to look better.

Good luck!

Yeah, that makes sense.

Thank you so much~
