EC's

hey i've been told that you shouldn't include all the ec's you've ever done, but just the ones that are most important to you. what do you guys think is the max. number of ec's that should be included?

so far, this is my list but i think that i might need to cut it down some more. which ones do you think i can leave out?

leadership: Director of Public Relations of the Freshman Council, class president for all middle school years

arts: Passed 8th grade piano for ABRSM (the highest level), flute for 5 years, barbershop for girls (an acapella singing group) for 2 years

sports: varsity track, i’ve developed an extremely strong passion for gymnastics and i’ve been doing it for 8 years (not competitively though ): i live in china and it's hard to find opportunities), swimming for 8 years (competitively, won 2 gold and 2 silver medals)

community service: elementary tutoring, visit orphanage every two weeks

other: model united nations for two years (participated in SHAMUN twice, MYMUN, and Singapore THIMUN)

thanks (:

Well a couple of the schools im applying to give you a table with only a certain amount so you have to pick your top few. It doesnt hurt listing everything you’ve done. Just make your top ECs that you passionate about clear so they know where you devote most of your time. They way to say what you do when you r not studying (most descriptions before they tell you to write down EC’s say that)

For your leader ship stuff just simply put SGA as the extra. Then if thye ask for explanations and roles as they usually do list them there.

wow i would think that china has a lot of opportunities for gymnastics since they have the best gymnastic team in the world, well, at least in the olympics.

make sure to leave out one time events unless its the spelling bee and you placed or something

thanks!
yeah for exeter and deerfield they put a limit to the number of ec’s.
as for andover you’re free to write any ec you’ve done.

haha yeah in china there actually are some opportunites but it’s for those that have been doing gymnastics since they were 3 or something.
