haha

we all here~~
it'll be around 7 am local time
and now it's 1:50 already

Do you know a funny website or something else that can keep me busy for 5 hours?

generally how many girls will get accepted under ed2?

I don't know....
But I'm worried about the simple fact that I am an international asking for fin aid. Just that cuts my chances into halves.

Where else are you applying?

it'll be around 5 in the mornin here n its already midnight...dunno wht i'll be doin for teh next 5 hrs..
so glrs do u feel like sharin anythin abt urself?

mhc, conncoll, wesleyan, oberlin, hamilton...but i really want to goto smith..
the only place where i can be myself

I'm applying to MHC and Hamilton too, along with Wellesley, Bryn Mawr, Colby and one other college whose name I do not recall....

maichang, why is Smith is the only place where you can be yourself? I do not mean to be offending, but that sounds like... a commercial?

Good luck to all of you.

B@r, I know that in theory one can do well at any number of colleges. If D hadn't gotten into Smith, she probably would be happily attending and doing very well at Wellesley. Or Yale had she been admitted. But there are certain Smith-specific or Smith-advantage experiences that have made oversized contributions to her overall college experience such that in comparison any place else, while still fine/excellent, would slightly dim in luster by comparison. I fully admit that different students have different experiences with Smith; mine has been fortunate enough to hit five cherries in a row on the karmic slot machine.

I'm deferred...

me rejected

i am rejected
it's really disappointing
but i can really see how tough the international students as well as asking for financial aid pool is
good luck, b@r!lum, in the rd round

Sorry to hear the news ladies. Keep your heads up, and you'll land where you were supposed to be.

This might sound inappropriate, but considering that I was deferred I am glad to hear that Smith is NOT one of those schools that defer most of their ED applicants rather than reject them right away...
I'm feeling sorry for you girls.

My hearts go out to you all. BJM8 is right, though. You will end up at places that are perfect for you. Good luck in the rest of the admissions process!

Barium, I know you're international. Were you also applying for aid? I suspect - but don't know - that, while Smith definitely supports international students, it tends to emphasize supporting American students with need. MHC seems much better at finding monies for internationals.

Don't give up hope. As you point out, you were not outright rejected, which says something.

MWFN, yes, I am applying for fin aid, and I would need quite a lot to attend. I guess that is the main reason I was deferred.

There's still hope!

I'm sure that, because of your need, they want to compare you to the rest of the international pool to determine how they want to spend their aid dollars. A deferral probably means that they think you'll be competitive in that group.

hey girls, i'm sure there will be better news for you all from your RD schools..

Barium: You're still in the running! Continue showing your interest in Smith to reaffirm that they are still your first choice. I am still looking forward to seeing you during the international students pre-orientation!;)

The worst outcome is to be accepted, and then for the school not to provide the necessary funds. Since some 60% of all Smith first-years receive aid, they have to manage their budget carefully to make sure they don't do that to any student.
