Can someone give me an idea of what kind of stats for ED resulted in how much merit aid? My son would like to apply ED, but we’re worried the merit aid won’t be sufficient. Thanks!

My daughter had applied, and was accepted, RD, so I can't be of too much help answering your question. One thing that I do recall, fwiw, is that AU admissions had stressed, repeatedly, is that if finances are an issue, a student should not apply ED.

I know, that's one reason for this post.

So I believe you have your answer.

I'd say don't apply ED if you want merit aid. The whole idea of merit aid is to lure you away from better schools. If you apply ED, they've got you and there's no incentive to give you money. Just apply RD and they'll load on the cash.

I know what you mean about wanting to know early--I was the same way--but you'll be grateful come April when you have a bunch of options.

Sorry deface, I was just curious as to what others had gotten merit aid with.

D with UW GPA about 3.7 and 31 ACT received about $15,000 merit aid last year.

I have a 3.9 UW and 1480/2070 (haha, do that math, it's pretty hilarious) and got the presidential scholarship and Honors- so at least now you know they don't seem to care about the writing score!
