ED Applicant Stats

Are you applying to only common app schools? I asked my teachers to make photocopies of their common app recs so that they can just mail those (hopefully they won't have to). If you're applying common app only, I think 2 weeks is more than enough time b/c it's literally just a trip to the post office.

Ironically my work has suffered b/c of me thinking about college. How great is that?

ha same. so apparently, one of my friends who does tours at duke told me that the admissions officers turned in their decisions today for early....!
maybe its just for north carolina? idk?

wow, dukie08... that just makes everything seem so real! i can't wait until decision day. how's everyone feeling? confident/nervous/excited/scared? i'm much more relaxed than i thought i'd be! my philosophy is that i can't change anything now, so "que sera, sera."

i have the same philosophy but i'm still pretty nervous just because i really don't want to apply to other schools. i didn't read my teacher recs so i'm just hoping they were up to par. and i believe that they have made their decisions already since my counselor told me they were making a decision about me on MONDAY ahh. you'd think that'd be reason enough for them to let us know BEFORE december 15 so we'd have some time for other apps if we get denied!!!!

annnd madboy a few of my schools are common app except UVA and Brown but I don't think the recs for that will be too difficult. my safeties (virginia tech and clemson) don't require recs but i guess i should send at least one in for tech.. just in case...and the counselor rec for clemson? i don't really know..SO confusing!!!!

i can't seem to get my mind off of waiting for the decision! this is a random question but just wondering, i did common app for early duke:
under the payment status on the common app, does it say "submitted" or "downloaded." on another one of my schools, it says "downloaded" but duke says "submitted".

anyone else?

"submitted" here as well. if there was a problem, they would have contacted us by now. nothing to worry about!

sounds good. thanks!

I'm going to assume mine says "submitted" because my computer is running slow and common app takes a year to open up.

They made decisions already? This is way too real...

I know, I can't wait anymore! My best friend applied to Yale EA and I don't think we've gone a day without talking about it...he's waiting til Dec 15th, too. I just want to get in soooo bad ahhh. I'm on the Duke website more often than like...facebook haha.

I'm hoping I get in Early as oppose to getting deferred so they don't have to weigh my 2nd quarter grades..they're probably going to drop b/c I've spent so much time on CC and Duke's site.

I'm worried that Duke made their decisions already b/c I submitted my October ACT scores to them and I JUST got them in the mail...Duke's policy is that they use October ACT scores for ED applicants...right??

madboy, you should be fine. it usually takes more weeks for the scores to come in the mail then it does online. duke will look at your act scores, no need to worry.

i am having so much trouble with waiting! i am on this site every 20 minutes or on the duke application check list.

has anyone gotten an email yet from duke admissions about a time and date?

no email yet. i am obsessively checking my email and the duke website in the hopes that someone will accidently press the "send" button early. no such luck, i guess...

i keep clicking the "decision letter" tab on the application checklist, and i get frustrated every time because they haven't updated the info since last year's RD!

If they have already made their decisions and i hadn't sent my first quarter grades until yesterday, am i basically rejected? I would think that if i were in the running then they wouldve asked for my grades earlier.

elluque10, it might just be for instate students. i am not sure.

i'm out of state and they asked for mine BUUUT maybe they haven't made their final decisions...annd even if they have, they may have wanted to take you even without your 1st quarter grades. it could go either way, you never know. i wouldn't stress about it.

hahah i doubt i was even close to a sure thing for them, but it's ok ill see what happens. I wasn't expecting to get in so i'll just hope for the best.
