ohhh yea...I thought you had a 1510 because you listed the writing first. Your SAT's are below average, your gpa is very good, but the courses were not at all challenging, and your ec's are definitely not "stand out." Hmm... looks like you'll need a lot of luck.

Wow, you guys are all being total jerks for berating the OP when he/she's just asking for an evaluation of her chances. I do realize that she said "It shouldn't be too much of a problem getting in" but nowhere in that statement implies extreme cockiness of his/her resume that you guys are accusing. The OP is merely confident that teacher recs and essays will make her stand out among other applicants who perhaps have higher GPA's/SAT scores. Truth be told, I do think he/she is overestimating the likelihood of admission to Cornell somewhat but your job is to tell her that and offer CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. The OP has only 3 posts so perhaps she isn't as accustomed to the nuances of college admissions as the rest of us CC'ers are, but that doesn't mean he/she shouldn't be treated with respect as a newcomer to what is supposed to be a FRIENDLY college community.

Seriously, you all need to grow up and drop the attitude.

Ditto, evilasiandictator. I had a similar case on this Cornell forum where I was literally attacked just for labeling Cornell as "not much of a problem". The OP was asking for her chances of getting in, not for you to tell her that she has no chance of getting in, like some posters have done on this thread(shame on you). In my opinion, Cornell students are just upset about their status as the "easiest ivy to get into"!

Wow so Penn told posters it was wrong to insult the OP, and then went on to insult posters...that's a great way of thinking...must be nice.

"The OP was asking for her chances of getting in, not for you to tell her that she has no chance of getting in"

What what what!?! I don't get it. So she asked for her chances of getting in, and we told her she had no chances of getting in, and so what's wrong with that? We told her what she wanted - her chance of getting in, which is zero, didn't we? Logiiiiccc

whoa take it easy you guys...she just has a slightly skewed opinion of how easy it is to get into cornell its not like shes trying to insult you..

123orange, if you're saying someone with a 2170 on the SAT has no chance of getting into Cornell, I guess you're also indirectly saying you have no chance of getting in. I have seen your SAT I scores and they're not even that close to the OP's. DON'T ERADICATE HOPE FOR SOMEONE JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T APPROVE OF HIS/HER CHARACTER!!!

Go away dream_killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oooooo "DON'T ERADICATE HOPE FOR SOMEONE JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T APPROVE OF HIS/HER CHARACTER!!!"

Sooo are you eradicating my chance of getting in because you don't approve of my character? I love hypocrites lol

Oh and by the way, I never said I had "no problem of getting into Cornell" because let's be realistic, Cornell is a tough school to get into and getting rejected is always a probability... -_-;

Penn, all craziness aside she only took a couple honors classes throughout all of highschool. No ap's. Her SAT scores r good, there's no denying that, but we are talking about something different here. I think we need to stop this debating, it really is...really really stupid and won't solve anything at this point.

I think the OP tried to cast some optimism about her chances at Cornell, but unfortunately it gave the wrong impression. I also believe the OP didn't realize how tough the competition was, despite the fact that Cornell had been labeled "the easiest Ivy to get into". (Don't let the label fool you because it doesn't mean it's easy to get into.)

To the OP: I hate to say that your chances are pretty slim simply because you failed to take the toughest course loads at your high school. Cornell loves kids that challenged themselves to the max by taking as many AP or IB courses as possible and there are plenty of those that apply and decide to go to Cornell every year, enough to fill up the available seats. Thus you have a very tough competition there.

I have to agree with evilasiandictator and the others who came to the defense of the OP. Most of you came down on the OP way to hard. She is obviously a "CC newbie" and not familiar with the nuance of applying to competitive colleges. Offer some constructive comments without the name calling. The regulars should know better.

123orange, what part of "I GUESS YOU're also INDIRECTLY" didn't you understand? Trust me, that's not a rhetorical question! Someone needs to catch up on their reading and comprehension.

Btw, this is going to be my last post because I find it pointless arguing with someone who isn't worth my time.

then why did you post lol and oh I don't get what you said, PENN dreamerrr
