Maybe our "Accepted" friend is fooling with us. How cruel!!!

"would love to have to chat" What is that?

I called the admissions office today during my open (the anxiety was getting to be too much!) and was told that letters were sent out yesterday. I'm in the northeast so I'm guessing that letters will arrive tomorrow or Saturday (?), as it didn't get here today. Best of luck to all!

Where do you live tentash? And what day did you find out? Did you get a letter or an e-mail. And voronwe my rank is also right next to 10 and I think I had good essays and I did cool things but didn't submit SATs. So I wonder what my fate will be.

I was notified about my admittance on the first of november. I received an email that day. Yesterday, I received an official letter from Bowdoin about my acceptance.

I had applied to Bowdoin through the Questbridge Program, which allows for early notification.

Hope that helped.

Btw, I live in Northern California

i applied ED I too..my college advisor called and the letters were definitely sent out on the 14th. should hear tomorrow or sat. good luck everyone!

Hey... who did receive Admission decision ?
If I called Admission Office, Will they answer to my question on my Application destiny ?
I'm too nervous that I cannot think any wise thing

I'm just so confused. I just don't know if Bates will be true to their word and not put much emphasis on the SATs. And everything besides grades can often be so subjective. I've done about 9 activities (including a sport, study abroad, leadership) and have related unique metaphors in my essays and have great recommendations. But I still don't know if that is enough. I really hope I will not have wasted my second ED. I'm wondering if Bowdoin is really just so competitive, or I just don't qualify for the Maine schools. I just don't understand how Bates, for example, accepts about 40 percent who don't graduate in the top 10 percent and I'm in the top 2 percent and people still aren't sure of my chances. If anyone can help me sort through this predicament or offer any feedback I'd greatly appreciate it.

:D @ ericgr: many factors are used to evaluate an applicant. GPA is important, but essays are also essential, recommendations are also important too. May be, you are not lucky at Bowdoin (just my opinion), but you will be best lucky at another school. WHO KNOWS? Ivy, Williams...

Unfotunatley, a main reason why I applied to Bowdoin was because I couldn't get into ivies, Williams, etc. I just didn't have the test scores. I thought I had excellent recommendations, and unique essays, but I think that Bowdoin wants more. I'm getting the impression that many of us could have gotten in other previous years. Bowdoin has become so competitive that I think they are looking for some truly special achievement or talent. Also, I was not a legacy, live in the most ungeographically diverse area- New York, and my school hasn't formed any relationship whatsoever with Bowdoin. At such a competitive school like Bowdoin these other factors can help. I don't mean to offend but if you are a legacy in Texas and have the same grades as me, you have a much better shot at admission. I'm not saying that these people don't deserve to get in (geographic diversity makes a great campus and legacies can help pay for others financial aid) but I still think it was unfair that I didn't have these factors going for me. Best of luck and I hope I am more lucky at the other Maine schools.
