I want to major in Creative Writing and Gender and Sexuality Studies. My CA essay is on collecting signatures for a petition for the gay rights center I work at and how it's changed my ability to accept rejection. My short one is on writing and my relationship with it. I'm a very good writer and I've extensively worked on my essays.

What are my chances at Wesleyan for ED?
What about Williams and Middlebury for ED?
And for RD: Brown, Yale, Cornell, Haverford, Swarthmore Oberlin, Kenyon, Williams, Middlebury, Wesleyan, Hamilton, Vassar, Bowdoin, U of Maryland at College Park, Rutgers (in state)?

I'm nervous about applying ED and not sure where I'll get in. Anything is helpful.

Also: what should I do to improve my chances?

Please guys? I’m very nervous. :/

your demographics arent going to help (Jewish, Female, NJ) but you definitely have a legitimate shot. if you like Wesleyan, by all means apply ED! you have nothing to lose, especially not needing financial aid (i.e. you won’t get as much $ as you expected). you have as good a chance as any. applying ED Wesleyan vs. Williams vs. Middlebury isn’t going to be easier or harder at any of them (or markedly so). definitely apply ED at the one you LIKE the most.

Yeah very true. My demographics do kill me. I interviewed at all of them though on campus.

I was going to ED at Brown…but I overnighted and didn’t like it as much.

Wesleyan’s ED acceptance rate is WAY up though. So I think it would be helpful to apply ED.

Bumping this. I’ll chance back!

Come on guys please! The lack of responses are making me really nervous. :(

Pretty pretty please? :)

Is it the title…I don’t get why this thread keeps falling. :P

your extra curriculars look amazing, i’d feel pretty sure if i was you. we worry a lot but SOMEBODY has to get in to these schools, you know? and your resume looks stellar

Thank you! But I know that my GPA just isn’t there for some of them. And really, I know people have much better resumes than I do. :frowning: Hopefully it’ll be good enough for Wesleyan and my other top choices.

Any opinions on my chances at the specific schools listed though?

My, my, there are B’s on your transcript, are there? Well, you obviously aren’t going to get in anywhere!

But seriously, my stats were lower than yours and I got into Oberlin with a $5,000/semester scholarship (although Vassar rejected me). My only advice is to have some solid safeties… and to stay away from chance threads, because they will only stress you out. Make sure you actually LIKE your safeties, by the way–if by some chance you don’t get into any of these marvelously competitive schools despite the fact that you’re quite qualified, you won’t want to end up miserable. It’s cliche to say it now, but decisions are a total crapshoot. You never know.

You seem to be in fine shape to me, though, so don’t freak out.

You’ve got very good extracurriculars and academics look solid…I think you’ll get in ED :)

Haha…I wouldn’t say I’m freaking out, but I know my competition is stiff. But that makes me feel better about Oberlin. Congrats for that!

And thank you, I certainly hope so. :)

Does anyone want to take a shot at doing the RD schools as well?

Bumping up. :)
