ED Deferred Round 2 Support Group

Feel free to commiserate with other deferred applicants while awaiting the decision. You've earned a special place dealing with the anxiety a second time around. Best wishes and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you.

Hey guys. So has anyone else heard from any of their top choices yet?

A place like this is so needed for us EDers, been waiting on this Wednesday since my deferral from Hopkins. Hope I get in, or into Emory if I get rejected.

hmmm hmm hmmm hmm, check clock, hmm hmmm hmmm hmm, check clock again. By golly at least a decision will be made. Unless of course it’s the dread wait list. hmm hmm hmm check clock. Thought you folks could use a chuckle. True story time. So when I picked up my son this summer one of the RAs said, " Your son would be a real asset to this University." From the Summer U. office I received a wonderful reply to an E-mail thanking them for a memorable summer for my son. “We loved having him here.” When I inquired about deferring financial aid to allow someone else to attend Summer U. Ms. Williamson said she had never thought she would see someone do that. So if you folks are accepted, and I hope you are, you will be part of a very special place.

Rejected. As disappointing as this is, it is a decision. Just a shame it didn’t happen in December. Fare thee well everyone.

^^ Sorry to hear that. I am sure that your kid will end up somewhere amazing.

Thanks Professor 101. No worries. The only down side to the ED deferral was it shot down his acceptance to his second choice university. The UofR made no bones about why he was waitlisted. Drexel U. offered him immediate acceptance with scads of dollars including a Dean’s Scholarship. It could be a whole lot worse though. Several of his Summer U. classmates that were ED deferred have yet to receive an acceptance anywhere. Still wouldn’t trade the experience though. Hell there is still visiting undergrad next summer. Tomorrow the next rejections from Harvard and Cornell should complete the picture. Congrats to all. Hopkins is still a cool place to be. And Dad ain’t scrapin’ the JHU DAD sticker off his truck. My son was a Bluejay first.

Sorry to hear that. I was rejected as well but hey I’ve got some great choices as well. Good luck to your son and I hope him the best :). Maybe we’ll see each other posting again in 4 years for grad school? haha

OK for all you denied applicants here’s a heavily plagarized letter someone far more creative than me sent to a college admissions committee.

Dear Admissions Committee,

I appreciate the time it took to deny my application for enrollment in the class of 2014. This year however I have received a record number of denials. Because of this I am over my quota of denials and must enroll for the fall 2010 semester.

I realize this is disappointing as it may create an inconvienence for the University. I am sure you will be able to overcome this disappointment and make the arrangements for my arrival.

Again, thank you for your consideration in denying my application, I’ll see you in the fall.
