can ppl please post stats if they got accepted or deferred? (rejected too if you want), and tell me which one please.

i got accepted, what kind of stats would u like?

average, rank, sat, sat2s, ecs, etc. thank u so much...i got deferred and i just want to see how much I will have to do to get them to let me in. lol

im assuming by average u mean gpa? which im not sure of...think about 4.2, my school doesn't rank, sat- 1460 (but they only have my scores as of 1430), sat 2- 670 (for writing and literature) 620 math, ec's- wow, ummm...orchestra (was concertmaster), debate (won a bunch of stuff), tennis (district champs), NHS, latin club (vice president for 4 yrs), sutdent gov't, I also work as a tutor and other different things. I think with your ec's its not what you do but what you do with them. Ive been trained to do behavioral therapy for autism, so what I did was put music and that together and started a case study on how music and learning music affects autism. ---I hope that helps. But don't think of it as what you have to do for them to let you in, I mean you can get higher scores but be yourself, which is what I tried to do the most and I think that came across in my application. Did you write the optional essay?

yea i wrote the optional essay, and i think my interview went well. Im going to send them a letter too a "why I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to go to tufts letter".
Im worried though because my test scores are good but my grades arent as good as they should be, or my ranking. They have gone up a LOT since freshmen year though.
Congratulations anyways!! :-) wish me luck...

my grades really werent that great but I tried to explain why in my optional essay. what are your scores? btw, I called them because my interview wasn't going to be ontime and the woman with whom I spoke with said "interviews have absolutely no bearing on decisions"...it was quite a humbling conversation. anyways, good luck!

Hey Paprika, just a suggestion regarding your "I Love Tufts" letter... If you visited, talk specifically about the people you spoke to, the classes you sat in on, the extracurricular groups you see yourself participating in. They already know you want to go there, so do thousands of other applicants. You should focus instead on what you will add to the Tufts community. They want active participants in their discussions, their lecture series, their a capella groups, their research programs, their newspaper staff. Check out Tuftslife.com for all the activities there for inspiration. Then tell the adcoms how you hope to contribute to, well, Tufts life!

As for stats for accepted, five kids from my son's high school applied ED last year. Two were accepted. I posted my son's stats elsewhere, but nutshell: 1500+ SATs, 700+ SAT2s, top 3%, tons of music ECs. The other kid in his class who was accepted to Tufts was #3 in the graduating class, had tons and tons and tons of community service and SATs in the low 1400s. The three kids from his high school who did not get accepted had SATs ranging from the mid 1300s to high 1400s, were within the top 10% of the class, and had pretty decent ECs. One was a top debater in the state. There were all solid candidates, which is why I keep saying that Tufts is not a safety for anyone.

In my son's Tufts love letter, he spoke of joining the Tufts music ensembles, and sure enough, he has joined wind ensemble and pit orchestra. He loves Tufts! Good luck!

Erinandamanda, thanx. My scores are 700math, 800verbal, and 770,780, and 670 (boo) on my SAT2s...but my grades are not great. My ECs are good and I think my essays were good too.
JJsMom: yes tufts is definitely not a safety for me... Its my first choice and I think its a reach. Especially now that i got deferred. :-( Good idea for the letter though..Im planning to try to convey I LOVE YOU and YOU SHOULD LOVE ME TOO. lol or something like that.
Im nervous though because those kids you described seem like much better candidates than me.

In my Tufts love letter (haha) I wrote about how I am planning on expressing my wide interests and talents more. I looked up a specific A Cappella group and talked about how I would love to become part of the group, and also mentioned many specific details showing what I knew about the school. I also included an extra religion-life themed anecdote that didn't fit in my regular application, and showed how motivated I am as a person. Hope this helps :)
