ED II? whaaat?

I need some help understanding this deadline.

For some universities, there's an ED I and ED II. However, the ED II deadline is the SAME as the RD deadline -- how does that work? You're not allowed to apply to other RD schools at the same time as ED, yet it's at the same time as thd RD deadline so if you're rejected from the ED II school, it's over? You're not going to college?

... and also, can you rush scores for the November 4, 2006 test date and still make it in time for the November 15h deadline for some ED schools?

i'm pretty sure you're allowed to apply to rd schools while you apply to a school ed II. i think you just end up finding out about the ed school earlier, and there is still that whole binding thing. but someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

as for the scores thing, my dean said they still accept them. she said something about just having the scores sent directly to the school and they can recieve them after your app is already in.

You can always apply to as many schools as you want RD, whether you appy EDI or EDII; you just have to go to the ED school if you are accepted.

if you get into the ed 2 school you find out before 4/1, the RD notification date, and are expected to withdraw all other apps so you will not find out if you got into your other schools if you got into your ED 2 one. it sucks cause you still have to do all the other apps (and pay for them...) if youre gonna do ed, do ed 1

ED II is designed, like ED I, to increase a college's yield (which means they can admit fewer students, lowering their admit rate). ED II, which is common at many LACs, is intended to snag students rejected or deferred from their first choice ED school (it is binding).

Although it is binding, you are allowed to submit as many applications as you want to RD or rolling-decision schools.

Like funk suggested, do ED I if you are deeply committed to that school. November scores should be fine, but check the admissions website to be sure. If your scores don't get there in time, you might be deferred, in which case you can send in supplementary material to improve your application.

allright thanks :)

i want to retake my sat i in october and my sat iis in november, but it says rushing scores take three weeks, which may not make it in time... i'm worried, haha. i really do want to apply ED I!
