Ed Ii

A couple of questions...
First, does anyone know what the general acceptance rate was last year for ED II, and if so, is it lower than for ED I?

Second, I doubt this but some have been concerned about it...will the admission committee look down upon me because I have changed by application from RD to ED II? I figured it might be obvious that I had been deferred or rejected (I was deferred) from my top choice school to which I applied ED to, but now Vandy is so far at the top of my list that I can't even believe I didn't do ED I and I am worried that the adcom might not realize this.

About the acceptance rate...I think it was 30s...33%. I'm pretty sure it's in the 30s.

Don't worry about it too much. If I were you, I would just apply.

i doubt your whole deferral situation matters because EDII is a binding commitment and anyone who signs that agreement obviously loves the school.

Vanderbilt University - Ratings

According to that, RD's acceptance rate is 46%, but that site could very well be wrong.

Commodore,
I believe your numbers are old, old,old... Since the advent of Inside Vandy, the archives of The Hustler are now inaccessible. However, I began tracking admissions data when S began his studies in Fall of '02 because D was committed to attending Vandy before S ever considered it. At the time he was admitted, acceptance to A & S was near 40% overall and to Engineering (his original school) almost 50%. When you factor in a higher acceptance rate for ED and a lower RD rate to make that overall average, even at that time 46% would be high for RD. When D was admitted, approximately 50% of the ED applicants were successful, but only around 33-34% of RD applicants were successful (can't remember if that was just for A&S or overall).
Last spring, The Hustler reported in its annual recap of the admissions process that the acceptance rate was the lowest ever - a little over 30% overall if I remember correctly. I may be off in my numbers by just a little, but I'm pretty close.
The Hustler staff has published its last issue for the semester, but, after the holidays, you might be able to call their offices and ask for data on last year's admission cycle. They do this article every year and even sometimes do a recap of the ED round in early-mid Feb.
