ED numbers

NU gets more ED apps, takes slightly fewer students
By Tom Giratikanon

NU’s early decision applications rose 16.9 percent this year to 1,531, from 1,310 last year, according to the admissions office.

Northwestern took 561 students early for the Class of 2012, six fewer than before, pushing the ED acceptance rate down to about 37 percent.

clever allusion

I'm surprised they took fewer. They took more last year when the application numbers increased.

Well, I think it's deceiving in that they took a very similar number to last year, except the percentage went down. It doesn't surprise me especially when a lot of these schools are going to get a lot of applications this year. With the whole Harvard and Princeton thing, I think students are applying to a lot more schools and therefore the schools are going to get a lot more applications. There's gonna be a lot of decisions to be made.
