nuh uh, everyone on the thread from last year was an asian male from ny. wait, maybe that was RD.

^^^ haha i know, right^^

nuh uh, everyone on the thread from last year was an asian male from ny. wait, maybe that was RD.

^^^ haha i know, right^^

no joke. someone even said, "everyone here is asian!"

we are sorry? haha :)

Haha, no that's right, I remember reading through that thread (NOT RECOMMENDED if you want to keep your sanity) and it's true that the first crop of people who were accepted and posted their stats were Asian. It was a little unnerving for us non-Asians.

no, don't get me wrong, i love asians! but y'all apply in large quantities.
^^^ NightOwl is 100% right, don't read through the thread. just pretend it's not there.

Yeah, that's definitely what I'm doing. There's nothing more I can do now, so there's no point in getting worked up and nervous about it.

I already read it.....
realizing people with similar stats as mine were either rejected or deferred..

Ahhh that thread is so scary! It's so surreal that that'll be us in a few days, though!
This weekend will quite possibly be the slowest one ever...

^ Definitely. I think we'll all have a hard time concentrating this weekend...

i told u guys not to look in that thread!!
ok so does anyone here besides me NOT have a 1500++???!

I have a 1480, which I guess is close to a 1500, but it's still below. I've heard that Columbia pays more attention to critical reading and math than writing, but does anyone know how much less attention (writing was definitely my worst of the three)?

Statistically-speaking, I've always found those threads extremely misleading..

If the middle 50% range is indeed what Columbia says it is, then 25% of freshmen scored below and 25% scored above.
Accordingly, people with <1500s shouldn't be that worried!

Now, something like an 1100 without an explanation would probably cause some worry but most of you will be fine (:

In other news... three more days!

My main worry is that while none of my things like grades, ECs, test scores, etc. are enough to worry about individually, none of them really stand out either... But there's nothing I can do now, so I'm trying to just relax and focus on other schools I'm interested in, so that I won't be too disappointed if I don't get into Columbia.

^ I feel exactly the same way!

This has been the longest Saturday ever.

i think they treat writing as an SAT II

That's what they've done in the past.

I believe this year is the first year they are counting it as part of the SAT I.

I read that they're considering it this year, so I assume it would be considered as part of the SAT I.

Yes, my admissions officer told me that this is the first year they are taking all three parts of the SAT I (Reasoning Test) into account. I had a nice Writing score so I was very pleased to hear that.

Haha me too. It was my highest score out of the three.

lol then it's all the better for me. my writing score was my highest as well.

glad i'm wrong.
