I have heard that the students accepted during Early Decision are often those with attributes that Princeton wants to "lock in" since early decision binds the applicant to Princeton. I've been told that these include those with perfect test scores, #1 in the class, outstanding athletes, those with other outstanding attributes that make them highly sought after. Is this true? Is the average SAT score of students accepted early much higher than that of those accepted regular?

umm no. in regular you are competing with a much larger group, but the rate is smaller. so they are basically accepting only the "elite" percent of the large RD group compared to large number "elites" in the smaller ED group.

can anybody tell me how many applicants applied Princeton for ED in the past five years? also, what are the accept rate of ED in these five years?

yea I would really like the ED admit rates too if someone could find them

I don't have exact numbers, but the ED acceptance rate is about 30 % compared to under 10 % for regular. Seriously, if you consider yourself a reasonable candidate for Princeton admission, apply early. It will give you an edge over RD people competing in a much larger pool.

This thread will tell you more than numbers alone:
