I want to know if I should ED to Cornell. I have an 88.5 transcript average. My highest score on the SAT is 1960. I'm not sure if EDing to Cornell is a good idea but I heard that if one applies ED, they're more lenient with grades.

So should I apply ED?

They are not more lenient with grades. Whoever you heard that from was an unreliable source. I would say your stats are too low for Cornell, but if you really think this is the school for you, apply ED. ED applicants KNOW FOR A FACT that that school is their number one choice. Cornell also has a binding ED agreement, so less people will apply through it than in Regular Decision. This gives a slight increase in acceptances through ED than through RD, but it should not be the motivating factor for your application.

I realize that my grades are a little low for top schools. However, I decided that I might try a top school just in case I do get in. After viewing the admissions statistics for the previous year, I found that they only accept grades with 93+. If that’s the case, is it unwise for me to ED to Cornell?
