ED to Penn or CMU?

For Computer Science major, is Penn or Carnegie Mellon easier to get into with Early Decision (not counting which school is better for CS)?

@BL2017 I dont think CMU publishes ED acceptance rates but their overall acceptance rate for engineering is 17%. At Penn the SEAS acceptance rate is around 9-10% (Penn doesnt publish individual school stats so this is an estimate). Then again CMU is probably more self-selected than Penn so u cant really tell. I think deciding between the two schools for CS and engineering in general there are many factors to consider. Penn is the overall better school in that it is strong across the board, it blends liberal arts with technical/pre-professinal education. CMU is the better school when looking at engineering quality alone but you ll prob have a much more one sided experience there as an undergrad. Also Penn CS grads routinely get jobs at the best firms and go on to top grad schools.

It’s simple - If you’re nerdy, go for CMU. Else, Penn

Does Penn offer more entrepreneurial opportunities on top of Computer Science that is more than CMU?

@BL2017 Yes i think it is probably safe to say that Penn is slightly more entrepreneurial than CMU. Take a look at this. In any case Penn definitely has a very strong entrepreneurial culture and also many resources available to any student ,due to Wharton and the also the entrepreneurship program in the Engineering school.
