Hi,
I'm thinking of applying on Early decision. If I am rejected by say University of X in ED (say in Nov), can I still apply to University of Y's Early decision 2 (say in Jan)?

because they say that you can only apply to 1 school for ED.
Any reply will be appreciated

Yes, if rejected to one school ED, you can apply to another school's ED 2 option. That's what the ED2 round is for, so people who were rejected to their original ED or EA school can have another chance.

thx. I don't liv in the US, and thus, mail delivery takes much time. So if say I send 1 ED to a school before nov 15 n they say that e result is comin out on dec15, then I send ED2 to another school also early in december, is that considered applyin to more than 1 sch? Coz I'm sure that dec 15 letter is only going to arrive sometime in Jan (too late).

Yes, that is considered applying ED to more than one school. Just think, what would you do if you got accepted to both? You certainly can't physically attend both.

Is there any way you could apply electronically to the ED2 school? You could send everything else early through snail mail to get there on time, but only submit the actual application electronically once you find out what your ED result is.

If you can't do that, how about calling or emailing the ED school, explaining your situation and asking them if it would be alright with them if you send the stuff early to your ED2 school but withdrew that application immediately if accepted ED. Personally, that seems reasonable to me, as you would withdraw your ED2 application before ED2 decisions were made (much like if you'd applied RD to other schools), but contact the ED school to be sure that will fly with them.

The other way to do it is to apply RD to the second school, sending everything in early. Then if you don't get into your ED1 school, you can request that your RD application be changed to ED2. It happens all the time.
