I'm thinking of doing pre med.

isn't ED 2 just a later ED date than ED 1? You really need to do your research on these 3 schools and see where you would be happiest at.

If you "really love" all three schools you should not apply ED anywhere. ED2 is for kids who have a really strong first choice and the app/test scores were not ready to go Nov 1, or ONE really strong second choice (and ED1 does not come thru).

ED2 is BINDING like ED1. So you can only pick ONE of them. And if you have an ED1 application outstanding and have NOT heard back, you can't do that. But if you have heard back from ED1 somewhere (waitlist or reject) you are free to apply ED2 somewhere else.

As between the three schools, they are definitely in the same peer group and really a flip of the coin as far as the prestige factor. It depends on where you want to go, live etc. Each are different. I like Vanderbilt for its campus, weather, Nashville, and DivI sports. But its a very heavy sorority/fraternity scene. Emory is top drawer, athletically challenged and its the least attractive campus of the three you mentioned. Its in Atlanta and that is either good news or bad news for you, depending on your point of view. I am not a big Emory fan. But its a fine school. Tufts is a superb school, its sort of a big time agnostic kind of place from what I have heard, and its a gorgeous campus outside of Boston. It has DivIII sports if you are so inclined. Top drawer IR program. But also strong on Pre-Med. But I would pick Vandy over Tufts for Pre-Med. Vanderbilt Medical School is one of the best in the nation.

But its up to you.

I don't see how Vandy's med school bears on whether the OP should go there for undergrad. Do Vandy undergrads stand a better chance of getting in to the med school? If so, how much does it help?

DO NOT APPLY ED (1 or 2) IF YOU ARE NOT 100% SURE YOU WANT TO ATTEND THAT SCHOOL IF ACCEPTED!!! =)
If finances are a part of your decision, ED won't give you room to compare scholarship offers. If you think there's a chance (even a .1% chance) that you may change your mind and consider other colleges, ED won't give you that time to reweigh your options. Also, if you already applied ED1, I don't believe you're applicable to apply ED2, so that could screw up your admissions.
Anyways, to your question: all three are excellent schools. Emory, however, is mostly centered on social sciences and business programs; not necessarily science. The other two are mostly equal. It just depends on whether you'd rather be in Boston or Tennessee.

Thank you!!
I decided not to apply ED..=)

Emory is better for pre-med, but I think you made the right decision not applying ED.
