I just got accepted at both. I'm interested in International Relations, but I like southern weather. Right now, I'm leaning towards Tufts, but...I'm not 100% sure...

dilemma

People want to be at Vanderbilt, most people at Tufts wanted to go Ivy and couldn't get in.

Vanderbilt has a much stronger, tightly-knit community (possibly due to D-1 sports).

I would at least both before you decide (if possible).

Fletcher School at Tufts is tops for International studies. Go to Tufts but take a Junior Year abroad in a warm country.

Tufts is much better for International Relations, it's one of the University's fortes

Well yeah. That's why I'm really leaning towards Tufts.

so great that you chose tufts!

that isn't true... 40% of the class is filled with ED applicants

"that isn't true... 40% of the class is filled with ED applicants"

Those are the ones that knew they weren't getting into an Ivy and gave up without even trying.

^lol, some people on this forum are way too funny and cannot comprehend how anyone would want tufts to be their first choice! lmao

gelliino...please tell me your sarcasm is just going over my head.

I don't believe that the ED students at Tufts would not get into Ivy League schools. Look at the board scores, look at the percent of students in the top 10% of their high school classes, and you'll find Tufts at exactly the same, very close to, and even slightly ahead of some Ivies. For the love of God, I didn't apply to Tufts ED because I didn't think any of the Ivy schools would take me...I applied to Tufts because, for the type of program I want to do, for the area it is located in, most Ivy league schools paled in comparison to what Tufts offered me.

Let's please get over the "Tufts Syndrome" joke. It's not funny. Tufts is among the most rigorous and most rewarding universities in the world, and so many of us soon-to-be Jumbos don't want to be anywhere else. The pretension and ignorance among some high-achieving students about Tufts is frankly appalling.

Tufts doesn't have more top 10% kids than any of the Ivy League schools. The only Ivy League school that has lower board scores is Cornell, and, based on Cornell's acceptance rate for this upcoming year, I think it's safe to say that Cornell's much harder to get into.

I think gellino's remarks are pretty accurate for the most part.
