Ed2?

HI GUYS,
So, I would like to get in to college, and to be honest with you the whole idea of it scares me. So, I am wondering if applying ED2 really has any difference in helping one to get accepted in to a school. Middlebury is my top school at them moment.
This is who I am as an applicant:

SAT top scores:
CR: 800
M:690
W: 700

SAT2:
Chem: 790
Lit: 730

I'm top 5% of my class from a highly rated public school.
Uh, 3.9 GPA unweighted
4.2 weighted

EXTRA JUNK:

AWARDS

honorable delegate award MUN
honor roll ect.

LETTERS
2 should be fantastic
the other is questionable my teacher said overall I was top 10% so the third row over, but I feel like in reality that would look like a bad score... maybe I'm wrong.

Also I'm a straight A student, but I got like 3 Bs first semester junior year. It was a rough patch for me after losing my aunt and a class mate to cancer that year. Should I mention that in the "explain anything you feel the need to" section or not? I mean I would kind of feel bad for playing the death card.

SO YEAH schools I want to apply to:
1.Middlebury
2.Swarthmore
3.Princeton (for kicks)
4. Kenyon
5. Davidson
5.Amherst
5.Wesleyan U

My questions to clarify. Would ED2 help for Middlebury? Do I have a reasonable chance to get in to these schools? Should I play the death card?

OH ALSO is talking about religion or the lack of religion off limits for the essay, because I have a powerful one on that topic, and another I also like, but slightly less. Is religion a no go?

oh and I have AP stuff too, 11 AP credits including 2 double credit science classes, with 4 and 5 scores on all of the tests I’ve taken so far…

I advise you not to apply until you are sure that Middlebury is your absolute top choice. Don’t apply for the sake of advantage, that is not the purpose of the early decision. The early decision pool is filled with the most competitive pool of students, with legacies, athletes, URMs and other hooked applicants and if you are applying for the sake of advantage I might even say that it could be detrimental since you don’t seem to have hooks. With that being said, I think you stand as fair a chance as every other applicant, your SATs for Math, Writing and Literature are a bit low but your GPA and academics are good. Since Middlebury doesn’t have a supplemental essay, it is really important to bring out yourself for the Common App essay.
