Does applying Early Decision Round 2 to Tufts hold as much weight as ED1? Does it seem like it's your second choice or do they still keep in mind that if you applied ED then you genuiniely want to go there?

i asked about this when tufts came to my school..the rep said the acceptance rate b/w ED1 and ED2 are exactly the same

Well, regardless of whether you applied somewhere else first, you're still bound to go there, and you obviously like Tufts enough to lock yourself into it.

IMO, Tufts knows that it's competing for students with the all-star schools - the Harvards and MITs of the world (note that H&M probably don't feel the same way about Tufts). Tufts could fill its class 15 times over with Harvard rejects. (Harvard could also fill its class many times over with their own rejects, but moving onwards.) Why do you think Tufts has ED II?? Maybe, just maybe, because some students really love Tufts but want to try the HYS lottery. d

ED II is there for those who don't have their act together enough for ED I and for those who got rejected ED somewhere else but love Tufts. Brilliant strategy, if you think about it - they're letting students get a risk-free shot at HYS and know that they can scoop them up Round II.

haha aries, i couldn't have said it better. and also, i laughed my ass off at "Harvard could also fill its class many times over with their own rejects" HAHAHAH!
