EDII decision!! Dream school vs. Not so dreamy

Here is the problem. I love Middlebury. Out of all the schools I looked at (like 15) it was the only one that really stood out. It certainly is a reach for me but people say February term is an option and if that what it takes to get in I would definitely do that. I feel like I could really rock the interview. On the other hand there is Colgate, I liked it but didn't love it. I feel like an EDII to Colgate would have a good chance of being accepted but not a RD. Where do I apply?? + what is involved with starting spring semester, When do you hear back? Is it like a waitlist? Do I have to ask to be considered for it? Is it easier to get in?

Stats:
GPA- very confusing, I go to a ski academy for the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the year meaning I have two different GPAs. Also I had a huge upward trend which I could really sell in an interview
Freshman Year- 2.7
Sophomore Year- 2.7, 3.6 at ski academy
Junior Year- 3.4, 3.8 at ski academy
First quarter of senior year at normal school- 3.5

SATs- 700M, 670CR, 600W
SATIIs- 760 Chem, 760 Math I

Course Load
AP Chem junior year-4
AP Psych and Euro Senior year

Extracurriculars-
Obviously I spend most of my time ski racing, in addition I have a website (thegivingski.org | Chaopaqua, NY 10514) which is a charity organization for skis, plus a bunch of other charity things

College Decisions
UVM-Accepted
Denver U- Accepted + $$
Colorado College- Deferred
Babson- Deferred
Michigan- Deferred
Boston College- Rejected

Really what I am asking is it unreasonable to apply EDII to Middlebury if I love it?

It would be a very big reach, but if your parents are willing to spring for the application fee and you can make time to write the essays and do the interview, why not give it a try? Although it is late in the recruiting process, maybe see if they have a ski team and if they do, contact the coach. You can’t count on getting in so make sure you are happy with your other choices.

There is no supplement for middlebury. Also the Midd ski team is way too good for me to get on, they usually take like 3 gap years to even get on the team. Colgate doesnt have a varsity team. The sucky thing about my decisions so far is that they are mainly deferrals, meaning I wouldnt know until late march/early april. Out of all of those schools I’d rather go to Colgate or Midd

You seem drawn to the small LAC if Colgate and Middlebury are your top choices. Although time is short, why don’t you look into some LACs that are still excellent but slightly less competitive? Some examples: Lafayette, Union, Franklin and Marshall, Dickinson, Trinity, Muhlenberg, Siena (the list goes on and on)…

If Midd is your dream school ED there

Midddlebury is more selective than the schools that already have deferred or rejected you. Go ahead and apply, but take happy1’s advice and consider some more realistic alternatives.

I would not assume Colgate is so much less selective than Middlebury that it should affect your ED choice one way or the other. Colgate is nearly as tough as BC or Michigan.

I agree with barrk, you don’t want to have any regrets.
