EDII question.

If I applied to Vassar EDII, will the admissions committee only be using my 1st quarter grades to make a decision about whether or not I'm accepted? My 1st semester grades don't come out until late January, and I believe that's when Vassar lets you know if you got in early round 2. AAAHHH. Actually, does anyone also know roughly what day "late January" means? Thanks so much.

As far as I know, they only will see your first quarter grades. On the application (I read the directions at least 10 times over so I wouldn't mess up), I don't remember seeing anything about second quarter grades for any ED applicants. Vassar will receive a mid-year report with your first semester grades regardless, but they will probably receive that after your decision is made or sent. I won't get my semester grades until early February. I assume some kids in Florida, California, or other places who start school in August are finished with or just finishing their first semesters, so they have the benefit of being able to send their second quarter grades (or can select not to send them if they so desire).

im pretty sure that for EDII applicants, the notification date is approx. February 1st. i remember reading that somewhere.

I'm applying ED II, and it says that we'll be notified by approx. feb. 1st. So, that leads me to believe that they will have already reviewed all of the apps by jan 20th or so? Maybe not, idk.

I'm not sure what they're going to do in my case, because I don't actually have "1st quarter" grades. Because of the specific nature of the classes I took last semester, I only get 1 set of grades at the end of the 2nd quarter. Oh well...

moocow, i'm sure that won't be a problem- but it is kind of irritating if you wanted them to see senior grades before making a decision. i'm kind of really hoping that they only use first quarter grades, actually.

i have another question for all of you helpful people: if i never sent in a "request for early decision" contract, but i DID apply ED2, should i fed-ex vassar this form tomorrow? i feel like they made need it. thanks a lot.

YES. fed-ex the request for early decision form. I mailed my 2-3 days before the deadline, and then a week or so after, they emailed me telling me that they had not recieved my contract, and they wanted to ask me if i still wanted to apply early decision. so YES send it in.

About the time by which they will be reviewed, My decision was postmarked the.. 10th of december maybe? i cant remember, something like that, but they called my school on .. maybe the 3rd asking for my first quarter grades. So by the third they still had not made a decision.. if that helps form a possible time line for you. I'm guessing if the 1st quarter grades are missing from your file, they'll call your guidance counselor, and s/he'll explain it.

OHH wait, fax it. In the e-mail i recieved, they said that it could be sent by mail or by fax... so, i guess take your pick.

thank you so so much, lovegreens! i will definitely fax it tomorrrow.
