Edinburgh Cost

I've been looking at the University of Edinburgh over the past few weeks. The only real question I've been wondering about is the total cost for an American to study there for four years.

This will probably seem silly but due to the layout of the site and the currency conversions I believe my numbers for total cost of living and tuition are a bit off.

How much will most American students need to pay, tuition plus living fees, to attend the university?

We cannot give you one specific number because your charges will depend on your personal circumstances, such as your major and your choice of accommodations. You’ll probably end up with a cost of attendance between $30,000 and $50,000 per year, comparable to the cost of a private university in the US. That includes tuition, room and board, and day-to-day personal expenses, but not travel or relocation expenses.

Tuition is £12,050 to £23,500 per year, depending on your major: url=Undergraduate Fees]Undergraduate Fees

Housing with a partial meal plan is £3959.98 to £8170.64 per academic year.
You can also live in university housing without a meal plan: [Self-catered details and prices | Self-catered details | Accommodation Services](http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/accommodation-services/new-prospective/undergraduate/ug-self-catered)

What to expect in terms of personal expenses:

I suggest you look at this page: [Cost of Attendance | US loans | Scholarships and Student Funding Services](http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/student-funding/financial-support/student-loans/usa/costs)
and click the links for cost of attendance.

Add the cost of attendance to your tuition cost, which, is it is 12,050 pounds, I believe is around $18,000.
