Edit of past "chances" post.

Since my last "chances" post many factors have come into play which may add my app.

Since the end of the semester, I have found out that I am now ranked 9th in my class, top 10! Second, my SAT results are in :700 Math, 720 English, 800 Essay; I still need to take my SATII's, so I don't know about those yet. Also, I have recieved an award for outstanding service in the fight againts underage smoking.

I am also a first generation college student.

So, from this point, here is what I have.

GPA:4.5 weighted
SAT: 700 Math, 720 English, 800 Essay = 2220 overall.
Top ten.
I.B. Diploma Candidate
NHS
AP's Euro-4 English lit-4

EC:
Staffer for Juan Vargas Congressional Campaign
- Juan Vargas is known for his tobacco legislature, that's why I work for him.
Ranking member of Communities Against Substance Abuse (CASA)
-awarded
Boys' State rep. ; hopefully Boys' Nation as well.
Ice Hockey Player - This years "Saint" award (we're the San Diego Saints); which is a leadership award.

It doesn't seem like a lot; but in these areas I believe my effort and leadership will show. I also believe that there is a clear picture of who I am, even without the essays. Although, I'm not sure, this is why I am asking you.

Also, do you think it will have any positive effect that I am doing my extended essay on Yale?

bump bump bump

What do you mean you're doing your extended essay on Yale??
Your SATs are a bit low, (1420 on the old scale) esp. because writing scores will not be weighed too heavily next year. Your leadership is good, but there will be many others who have done much more, so be aware of that. To be quite honest, your activity list seems to be a bit lacking - I know you say you have in depth commitments to each organization, but you better be sleeping in the office with so few ecs! However, I think that someone at your level can definitely pull off an acceptance, but it will take a lot of careful work on your application. From what little I've gleaned from the varioius admissions books I've read, you really need to make sure that your true self shines. Good luck!
(And I'll be seeing you around, since I'm, applying EA to Yale!)

I think he's talking about his IB essay, which he wants to do on Yale secret societies.

Of course, no one can accurately predict admission. However, with your stats, I'd say it'd be worth your while to apply. Your SAT is average, but not horrible, and your GPA is great. Congratulations on your rank! How large is your class? The fact that you're first generation will be an advantage, but probably not a huge one. As long as you present yourself well in the application and the essay, you'll have a decent chance. I hope that we all get in! Filmxoxo17, I'm also applying SCEA. Lord willing, we'll all gain admittance!
