I switched high schools rather unexpectedly after my freshman year, because my parents were not happy with the "fit" of the school I attended for ninth grade and my dad wanted me to attend his alma mater. It had nothing to do with any academic or behavioral difficulties, nor was it really my choice to switch; my parents just didn't like the school. How can I reflect this through the required document on the Common App? I don't want to sound like I'm whining about my parents (which is probably exactly how I sound here, hahah) and I also don't want it to raise a red flag for any schools who'll be concerned about me transferring out of their institution as well. How should I go about this? Does anyone have experience with this matter?

It doesn’t sound like anything to worry about. Just briefly explain what happened in a paragraph or so and upload the explanation. It should be fine and it doesn’t sound like you’re whining.

I read the educational interruption differently, and assumed you just had to note it if you were not graduating in four years, or your continuation of school was “interrupted.” I am kind of freaked out now, as I transferred schools but did not check off the “did/will change secondary schools” box.
