EE major--worth to take EE42?

I wanted to take EE42 in the fall as it covers most of everything that is covered in EE40. Is it possible for me to take EE42 now and just complete the last unit of EE40 that's not covered in 42 later?

(Btw, I am an eecs Fresman)
-Thanks

Anyone know if you can use the 7th edition of electric circuits for this course?

No, as an EE major you are required to take 40. 42 is not an acceptable substitute and is not open to EE majors. The only difference between the two classes is that in 40, you'll learn about MOSFETs in the last four weeks. Everything else is almost exactly the same.
