Does anyone know how many EE applicants there are usually, and about how many receive likely letters?

Also, can anyone who applied EE in the past and received likely letters post up their stats?

I apologize for all the questions, but thanks in advance!

According to my inside sources (official, but not available to the public), the past three years the EE acceptance rate was 53%, 51%, and 48% (for students entering 2009, 2008, and 2007, respectively). I’m not sure whether that means approx. 50% of EE applicants receive likely letters, or whether that means approx. 50% of EE applicants either receive likely letters or receive possibly letters and are later admitted. Incidentally, the higher acceptance rate for ED and EE means that the RD acceptance rate is more like 30% (actually it was 27% last year).

I was admitted EE in 2007. You can click on my name to see my stats profile.

Hey, sorry for the late reply but thanks for the stats! Do you have any idea about how many people apply EE each year?

Wow, ~50% is quite a lot if it’s only the rate of likely letters sent out… unless it does include the possibles later admitted. Then I guess that means about 25% receive likely letters since about 25% of possibles are later admitted.

However, if you are a possible, are you put into the RD pool and counted as a RD applicant? (Which therefore means that ~50% receive likely letters and possibles don’t count in this percentage…?)

Also a similar slightly OT question: if you are deferred EA/ED (for any school) are you counted as a RD applicant in the end and thus within the RD acceptance percentage (considering you were accepted RD)?

I don’t know what category possibilities are counted under. My best guess would be Regular Decision, but it is just that–a guess. Apparently the number who apply EE varies quite a bit–1200, 1100, and 1400 in 2007, 08, and 09 respectively.

EE letters should be coming out within a week or so, so good luck!

Thank you! (for the replies and the luck! I’m super nervous but fingers crossed!!!)

Hey ADVANTAGIOUS,
D receiver a “likely” letter-and is over the moon. I realize it is “likely” not “accepted”, but any stats for % “Likelies” who are accepted? (ie:Can she say she is admitted?)

Likely does mean accepted. As far as I know, the only situations that would cause a likely to be rescinded are the same situations that would cause an acceptance to be rescinded (serious disciplinary problems, SERIOUS grade problems (one C in AP Calc or Physics or even Senior PE =/= to serious grade problems)). Congrats!

Thank you. D is so happy and this is a perfect place and time for her.
