I was recently accepted into Berkeley, and I'm an intended CS major. Quick question and problem: I have to take EE42, but the professors who teach EE42 in both the fall and spring (according to ratemyprofessor) are terrible! How does one get around this pre-requisite without having to spend the semester with a bad professor?

You're right. Most of the EE42 professors are pretty bad. The HKN surveys confirm this. I suggest going with a professor that's not too tough or difficult. EE42 isn't terribly important or useful for a CS major, so I think it's better to just get it over with relatively pain-free. Looks like Chua is teaching in the fall, and according to HKN surveys, he's light on the work and a fair grader. He's never taught EE42 before, but from his other courses, it seems he's a mediocre teacher.

If you're feeling brave, take EE40, which covers the same requirement, but goes into more depth. I took it last fall and really liked the class, even though the professor at the time dressed like Harry Potter.
