Man, what ill do is...work my ass of for the next 2 yrs and maintain my 4 (which I highly doubt I can)...in the side get cracking on the GRE(1yr left !)...then apply to All the top 20...cross my fingers to get into atleast one...by the way, engineering avg GRE score for top 20 is about 740/800)..messed up !

Best of luck to you indie_boy. I will surely be in the same boat when I apply in 2 years. Now its time to bring my crappy 3.7 GPA up.

phpguru

you too man...go go go raise that GPA and show MIT whoz the boss :D

Just thought I might post this. A friend of mine here from UCSB got into EECS.

GPA (by Nov): 3.94
GPA Now: 3.75
Major: Computer Engineering

Seems like they don't consider Fall grades, they just cut the < 3.8's off.

wonder what happened to the other EECS students...common guys post !!!

phpguru: actually they do look at fall grades...thas why berkeley needs TWO WIP forms....3.75 is a great GPA...

I'm just saying that they cutoff people with lower GPAs in December when apps are due. So people who do really well (like I did) during the Fall quarter doesn't get reconsidered. I might appeal, who knows.

phpguru

they don't even look at the GPAs till the WIPs are submitted...I don't understand why they wouldn't...

ok guys this is what i think...they kinda seperate admission files before WIP....

@ november time...I had a D on my record...so i had about 3.69 or something...they must have put my file to the side...after nov application I freakin punched in huge units...like taking assembly and physics 4b in summer togeather...with all Az thus leaving me at 3.81 @ WIP time...the one mistake i did was I did not retake the D class before WIP...wish they could look at my GPA now after retaking that class....

So basically thatz wut happens...the general admissions filter out the apps and give the remaining to the engineering dept...it sucks if the engineering dept never gets to look at your app...Am i right on this one? anyone?

indie_boy: it just doesn't make sense to me. let's suppose that if you have a 3.75 in the fall but 3.88 after WIP. now why would they toss you out without even looking at your WIP ...it seems to me that colleges would want to look at as many semesters as possible to gain a better understanding...I mean not counting summer your college GPA in fall (if you are planning to stay for 2 years ) is only TWO semesters...

then...why not ask us to submit our apps in dec or jan...why submit in nov?

they wont tell u but i seriously think they alrready filter apps and base the last min decisions on WIP...just my 2 cents

I wouldn't put it past them. College admissions are completely random and irrational at times.

indie_boy: it's prolly because they want the transfer apps with the freshmen apps...and some schools are on quarter or semester...

who knows...as someone mentioned they are random...

I found out a problem which should be improved for next years. For any reason, you received an incomplete grade (almost miss test or emergency absence ...a good professor can't take you down or even gave you a bad grade). For example, you got incomplete in Spring 04 and the grade will be available till end of Spring 05. In Nov, Fall 04, You must report in your application an "incomplete" grade for that course. You can't update "that" grade in WIP. One possible solution is to report in WIP that you take this class again!!!. Otherwise, you will be lost credits of that course toward your total transferable credits

New Update: In at UCI (CS major)

Update: In at UCI (CS major) but they require to fulfill 60units at the Summer session and to take Java class
