Well, I didn't apply to UCSD so it no longer matters, but I wouldn't consider going there anyway. I love LA and SF too much. (Sure Berkeley isn't SF but it's close enough, heh) I visited the UCSD area, and it's not for me. Too sleepy and not enough of a real city. Downtown SD isn't bad, but it still doesn't come close to LA or SF for me.

I still haven't heard from UCI! I hope I don't have to wait until May....

I will be rejected from every UCs I applied with CS major. (For example UCLA, UCD) UCSD will be next. 3.9, 3.8 (WIP). They said I had only 57 units by the end of Spring 05!!!!!!!!!!

"They said I had only 57 units by the end of Spring 05!!!!!!!!!!"

and did you? How did they count differently than you? why would you apply if you wouldnt have enough units done?

I sure that I had around 60 because I took a philosophy class in winter intersession 05. On the other hands, I summitted my application 2 days due to deadline so I don't really count my units or eventually, I could miss to report a class in one of semesters somewhere. Anyway, I will go to Cal poly for Software engineering

I got into UCI this morning for ICS. 3.70 GPA

Omg...ICS has not notified me...ohh well, I am missing 4-5 UCI equivalent classes...ahh screw it...

Go UCLA Computer Science Department :) !!

Rejected from UC Berkeley EECS. The reason was most likely because I applied as an intercampus transfer.

GPA: ~3.85
Major: EECS

From UCSB.

phpguru

Rejected - UC BERKELEY

MAJOR EECS - less than 14% acceptance rate.
GPA - 3.91
Major GPA - 4.0
All prereq classes - All math, all physics, all CS, 3 qtrs of English, few GEs. With tons of extra CS classes.

No worries. Only UCB has the right to reject me. After all, EECS is tied #1 with MIT and Stanford

There's always grad school! (Crossing my fingers for MIT PhD EECS)

phpguru, same here....We will force them to accept us for Grad school esp MIT...i need to pick up my GRE books now :)

MIT doesn't take GREs! heh its all grades and research

phpguru

no way dude...are you serious? cuz i have the Usnews premium edition Engineering ranking which lists the avg GRE score for engineering for MIT...

Yep they don't use them at all in determining your admission. Take the GREs anyway since I'm sure MIT will not be the only school you apply to.

ya...by the way, where will you go UCLA Vs. UCSD ?

I'm at UCSB right now so I'm leaning towards staying here. UCSD/UCLA/UCSB are all neck and neck for Electrical Engineering. I haven't heard back from SD anyway.

phpguru

ohh ic...but since you will be trying for MIT...you might need a school like SD and LA which have a slight edge in undergraduate studies.

Yeah I was wondering about that. I was wondering if anyone from MIT knows about their graduate admissions. From what I remember, they only accept <2 people on average per school. 100 total. Would be easier from here, no?

phpguru

dang...<2...MIT EECS is hardcore...

100 nationwide. And on top of that, after two years, due to the PhD qualifying exam, they cut out 40. So only 60/100 will make it to a PhD. INSANE!
