My stats were pretty similar to tagran's, minus the art portfolio. My interview was also pretty awesome :). Probably the best I've had.

I just realized I didn't post all stats, but I will in a bit, g2g!

hah yeah i know they're both bad--i just feel like the more north i go the worse its going to get. it's really not that much of an issue...at all, just something to add to the list i guess. and they didnt send any scholarship information to me, they told me they will notify me later? or something...

I'm not sure how i'll fare in the admissions process. My gpa seems like its going to hold me back.

What do you guys think?

SAT I: 1420 (800v 620m)
SAT IIs: 750, 740, 700 i think...

uwgpa: 3.3
wgpa: 4.25
rank: 220/1200 (my math/science grades bring me down)

AP scholar w/distinction:

euro: 5
U.S.: 5
Human geo: 5
english: 4
world hist: 4

Interview went fairly well. Good recs, good essays (i think). Great ECs (imo), and I sent in a pretty impressive music CD.

Congratulations to all of you :)

I GOT IN. what a relief. You can search my username to find my stats. I'm psyched.

I got in and got a letter that I got a $3K/year scholarship today. Here's my s***:

1440 SAT I
34 ACT
800 Writing
740 US History
660 IIC
4.6 W GPA
1/~650
No interview. Good essays. Good ECs. Hope that helps. I got a similar letter from Duke, so I'm gonna wait on some other schools and compare fin. aid packages and probably choose based on that.

Okay, so 10/201 rank; good essays (I think); great recs (I love my teachers!); no interview; involved in literally a bajillion ecs; with many leadership positions....um, I think that's it. Ask away if you have any q's.

have all of you that have gotten in recieved the letter or found out from the website?

I GOT IN AS WELL! Just received my "early notification" letter today! And it's not just a Midwest thing, as I live in North Carolina...

My SATs are considerably lower than most of yours, but I had excellent recs, strong essays, a ton of pertinent ECs, and a not-too-shabby GPA (weigthed, 5.25... Yes, I've taken many IB/AP classes)... Plus, I'm an IB diploma candidate, which I'm sure worked in my favour.

Furthermore, as a prospective international studies major, I'm sure my multicultural and international background helped me in the admissions process (Dual-citizen, grew up abroad, etc)...

Additionally, I had an interview in which I was able to clear up some of the discontinuities in my transcript (i.e. my mediocre calculus and IB Physics HL grade; I'm more of a humanities person).

I doubt I'll be attending as I can't really aford Mac, but it nonetheless made my day!

i got accepted and live in nc, so its not just a midwest thing. and i got a dewitt scholarship, then when they get confirmation about my national merit status the scholarship will be upped. and by the way, i think this whole forum thing is a great idea-- it gives all us potential mac kids & parents a way to communicate freely and easily.

Good job LiquidPaper! Btw, your posts have interesting titles. lol! :)

I did EDII and the letter came on the day they said they would start notifying (Feb. 7) and i live in California so I guess they are pretty punctual with that

for scholarships... i got offered a crapload of grant money, a few thousand in loans, and a few in work study, overall excellent aid package. I dont know if i actually recieved any big name scholarships, but the amount of grant money, along with the number of endowments they have (17 pages in tiny font in the nack of their hard copy course catalog)

congrats morgan. so how did you know fo' sho' that mac was the place you wanted to be? also, what have you heard, if anything, about the recent campus brou-haha over the possibility of ending need-blind admissions?

I visited over winter break

I had been talkin to the soccer coach for a long time and sent him a video of me playing. We spent a while talking and then i took a tour of the campus. I didnt get to go in any of the buildings that day, and even though it was -25 with windchill i really liked the campus and surrounding area.

I went back on the first day the admissions office was back in service, interviewed and took a student led tour
I felt really comfortable on campus. I really liked the style of buildings.
I also have relatives who live in the area.

I have been following the debate over NBA and it seems as if almost all students want to continue to have this system. you can check out the mac weekly
I believe the website is macweekly.com
there has been an article about this every week for a long time

if you have any more questions go ahead and IM me (morgiejc). and that offer is good for anyone

Thanks, Desi! :) So where else are y'all applying?

applied to swarthmore, wesleyan, washington in st. louis, and clark-- i only want to go to swat, mac, or wes, tho

i applied for a lotta aid and my stats are pretty good, similar to those od the acceptees. plus i'm an international. do u think the aid will hold my decision back?

I doubt it. I applied for a similarly large amount of aid, and haven't recieved a response on my financial aid award letter yet, but I got my acceptance letter a few days ago. The notification date is March 30th- don't fret too much until its the 29th and you are still missing an envelope.

are u an int' candidate cuz then u'd be courted unlike the rest of us.

Me? I'm not an international applicant.
