eek! need admissions help

Hey I was wondering if this looks like what Columbia is looking for at all for music/creative writing majors:

GPA: 4.19 weighted (going to rise)
3.88 unweighted (same)
Rank: 32/317 (getting better..it's in the 20's now)
SAT: (they're not fair)..writing 610, crit reading 520, math 550.
ACT: June 10th, not taken yet.
9th grade i took almost all honors (I have 3 B's on my transcript), 10th grade i took 2 honors, this year (11) i took 1 ap and 4 honors and have all A's (one b+). From 10th grade on, I have all A's on the transcript. Next year, I am taking 4 AP's (2 AP and 2 ap weighted honors) and 1 actual honors honors.

Extracurriculars: People to people student ambassador program, national youth leadership conference (possibly--next summer), glsen (helps teach others about diversity), junior mendelssohn choir, voice lessons, piano lessons, cantoring for my rabbi, jazz choir, chamber choir (most elite), and many others that I can't think of.

Thanks!!

first of all, your SATs are significantly sub par and you will definately have to retake them and do much better if you stand any chance at getting in. Especially since you want to be a creative writing major you should be easily getting over 700 on both the writing and verbal sections of the SAT....the math score they might be able to overlook. Also your "race" will hurt you if anything since there are individuals with much more balanced stats in the same pool. And you will need SAT IIs which you will also need to do well in.

As for the SAT not being fair...I agree to some extent, but it does demonstrate something about your basic skills.

It looks like your grades improved over the years. Many admission officers love students who go from B to A by the end of their junior year. Whether or not your admission officers likes that is chance, but I just wanted to say that its definately a plus.

P.S. The NSLC is almost not worth putting down. Everyone gets an invitation and you have to pay a lot of money. Something better would be the World Affairs Seminar or RYLA if you get it.
