I'm currently taking SAT prep courses for math and english. I'd really like to raise my scores to the mid to high 700 range. Is is possible? What would you guys suggest I do on my own to help me prep myself for the real deal?

Much appreciated.

Of course it's possible...

Learn how to write small and diligently for the essay - make sure you have Catcher in the Rye and The Great Gatsby down because they love these sort of references. Learn to BS personal examples in case you catch yourself in a fog and don't be afraid to make up history to back up your claims. The longer your essay and the higher its verbosity, the more likely you'd score high. Also, look at the SAT II Writing book - it's still floating around.

Take lots of practice exams. Keep practicing and I supppose you can try the 'Xiggi Method' - so take tests and find your errors, study the explanations, and keep trying - with the answer sheet in front of you. Don't rely on the SAT classes to do everything for you.

Also, I found that annotating whatever I received in my English and history classes helped me considerably in breaking down reading passages.

At any rate, if you're taking reading-intensive courses right now, your reading scores will boost by a significant amount if your course instruction is superb.

Practice! Practice! Practice!

The SAT prep classes you're talking will help a lot, depending on the class. I took an extensive SAT prep class and came out with an increase of .. maybe 400-500 points.

wow ok thanks guys :)
ill just keep working at it then.
congrats for raising your school 400-500 points! thats amazinggg :D
