EFAN IS UP - I have questions

^ i wanna know that too

I see that I was given 2 sholarships I never applied for, along with the Regents schol. I’m guessing I accept them all

have any out-of-state students received their eFANs yet?? i really want mine…

I got the Regents schol., and my expected contribution is $0. But my grand total received is $2000 short of the $26610 cost of attendance. I was under the notion that the Regents is supposed to cover all tuition costs? Y/N?

@madeinchina: I got mine.

oyster, Regents will only cover full tuition costs if your need is great enough. TBH, I don’t think you will need that $2000 (although it would’ve been good pocket money) since you will probably end up not using all $24k. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

yeah, the estimates for a full year at UCLA have differed a few thousand dollars on different sites. I am still quite confused as to how the whole thing works… What do the monthly/quarterly bills state? Just really lost about finaid -_-;;

Also, my family’s efc is 0; we’re pretty poor. I don’t see how that wouldn’t be regarded as “high enough need.”

^ Mine differed from the estimate, too, but not by much. I want to say call them up, but I don’t know that’s the brightest idea. HAHA.

Basically, from what my sibling told me (he has the scholarship at another UC), each quarter (3x a year) we’ll get a set amount transferred to our school accounts. Then what is left over once everything is paid for goes to the our bank accounts.

Oh, that makes a whole bunch of sense- I thought I was getting ripped off (I gave up a top choice for LA)! I sent some emails to clarify this earlier today, just in case. Thanks :)

Hm, weird. I just received a new eFAN (after accepting my first one) and now the numbers from the estimate and eFAN are the same. ._.

I accepted my 1st efan too and received a second one but that’s because I had outside scholarships so they changed my aid a bit and because they placed me in “Off-Campus” instead of “On-Campus.”

So I basically just accepted it again because my second efan was slightly altered.

In your case, I dunno? :slight_smile: Call.

Can you increase the amount in loans- for example the Perkins loan? I have an offer of $1400 for the Perkins loan

I really want to avoid the Parents PLUS loan, and I thought I could increase the Perkins loan instead because I believed that the cap for that was $5,500 but myFAO is not letting me change the total. Is this true or is there a way to change the amounts?

You tried to change it and it didn’t let you? =/ That freakin’ sucks. I didn’t take the Parent loan or unsub either. I don’t know what to tell you though buddy, but go call and ask about it. :confused: Good luck with that.

…I was actually thinknig about that too but I received enough scholarships to reject that loan.

where exactly would the efan be?

Yeah I called because there was something wrong with my eFAN. Apparently I’m going to get a new one in a few weeks, which I’ll be keeping an eye out for. If you have any questions, call them! I asked all the questions I had, and now I know all I need to know about this money business.
