I don't know if anyone has addressed this specifically but...

I can see my ePAL, but as many of you know, the ePAL is basically a projection of what you will get and is not set in stone. For instance, my ePAL said I would get over $14,000 in grants. Unfortunately that total included a Cal Grant and my Cal Grant was competitive and I didn't get it. I did get a Scholarship Recognition Award for like $2000, but I know some people here have gotten like $12,000 for that award and no Cal Grant money was calculated in their totals.

I've noticed that my Financial Aid Document Tracking has been opened like every day, but no new ePAL has been generated and no eFAN has been created at all. So when the heck is UCLA gonna get around to putting out the eFANs? Will they up my Scholarship Award since my EFC is 0 and others with that EFC and comparable stats are getting more? Will they do this before June 1 so we can decide between UCLA and other schools who put their FA stuff out in a timely manner (Berkeley, UCI, etc)? Why is their FA dept so behind?

I agree. I’m having the hardest time with their financial aid office. I have faxed forms (three times), have gotten NO information over the phone, and now I’m not even getting a reponse to my email. I don’t even know if it’s worth it to drive over there b/c I have no reason to believe that they will actually help me.

The calgrant site says processing complete. Then on the award status it says no status for that ssn and that there is no school. What does this mean?

I called the financial aid office today, the person said he’ll email my financial aid counselor about my ePAL not being available. I checked my financial aid summary just now and my parent’s EFC increased by TEN GRAND! I don’t think that was supposed to happen… I’m really concerned about UCLA’s method of distributing grants to their students or in this case, not granting any.

^ I had to submit a dependent verification form and I could finally view my ePAL last Friday. My parent’s EFC increased by a little over ten grand too. UCLA’s financial aid office is giving me a huge headache

hey nacho,
how did you submit your document? did you go to ucla’s financial office and just gave your paper work? also, where do you download the verification form? i tried emailing and calling these fools for info on my incomplete status, and i cannot get a hold of them.

@jennnn: Nope, just my ePAL. I heard that transfers see their eFAN in June or July??? So we pretty much have to base our decision off of the ePAL

Yeah, I just went back to the old threads and official financial aid notifications was posted on July 4th last year. I still want to know why they jacked up my EFC. Hopefully, it was just a computer glitch and I’d still get some money from them. Have you contacted your financial aid counselor? I think it’ll be easier if we contact those people ourselves rather than going through the financial aid office.

Ha, seriously… I hope they made some kind of mistake. I think UCLA also changed my actual FAFSA EFC cuz I got an email saying that corrections were made to my FAFSA, and low and behold was my increased EFC on the original form. I’ll probably call tomorrow and figure out what’s going on

ucrucla –> ePAL is basically the estimate of the amounts of financial aid you’ll be getting and where the money should be coming from, such as grants and loans and such. Go to this link –> https://www.fao.ucla.edu/myfao/ and log into your MyFAO (using same login as MyUCLA) and you should be able to see a notice that says “Provisional Award Letter”. This is your ePAL. It is just an estimate based on your info from your application and whatnot.

If for some reason you don’t end up getting something from the estimate, like a Cal Grant, UCLA is supposed to go back over your FA and find a new source of funding (this is how it should work, but apparently UCLA likes to be stingy with the grants). eFAN is the final product where you can actually accept loans and view exactly where the money to finance your education is coming from.

UCLA is supposed to have this done before June 1 because problems, such as my Cal Grant situation, can occur and we should know exactly how much we can expect to receive.

I can see mine and yours should have been up by now. I guess you should call the FA office and ask to talk to your FA counselor. If you live close by maybe you can visit. That sucks though.

Mine hasn’t shown either. They said it was because I was “selected” to turn in my tax returns. It’s been two weeks since my file has been completed and still, no ePAL.
