Elaborating on Activity 150 word limit

we all know on here that you need to do more with your EC's, for example many students have volunteered but few have organized major fundraisers bringing in thousands of dollars, or many students are involved with the school newspaper but few get local businesses to advertise in it to expand their paper.

so if you believe you've done something significant with an EC, should you talk about it in the "Short Answer" or the "Personal Essay"? I feel the short answer is only enough to talk about what I literally did in an EC, not about its significance/importance to me/what I learned from it and the impact I made. So really what is the Short Answer for?

Personally, I would throw that in the SA portion. If you put it in the Personal Essay, it seems like you’re just elaborating on a resume, which won’t say much about you. It’ll be one of those cliche “look at my impressive internship” essays that will get thrown out.

If you have another significant EC for your SA, however, you could elaborate in the Additional Information section.

I would use it for the Personal Essay if it really impacts you that much and you feel like you learned a lot from it. But if not, use it as the SA. SA’s are supposed to be like a snapshot of what your EC is all about. don’t be listing everything you’ve ever did for that EC, just do generalities, and one example.

I saved my best EC for the personal essay, and talked more about how it changed me than what I actually do there (I put that in the additional info section).

But I don’t really know what to put in the short answer section either :stuck_out_tongue: I basically wrote a mini-essay about another EC and tried to make it interesting, a little more like a story than a resume. Is that how it’s supposed to go? Or are you supposed to just make it like a resume section?
