Hey Guys,

I am DEFINITELY going into Engineering wherever I go. I can't really decide between Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical at the moment. I know the first year is typically exploring each type of engineering so that will probably save me some time..
anyways..

there is a school in Boston (Wentworth) that offers an Electromechanical Engineering Program.. in fact the only one in the country.. However other schools I am looking at would allow me to Major in Mechanical Engineering and Minor in Electrical Engineering. How different would that be from Electromechanical engineering? Would that still be as effective. i just feel like I don't wanna be locked in to only one school (Financially or heck if I get in..)

Are Majors in one type of engineering and Minors in another type of engineering effective career wise?

There’s no need to major in “electromechanical engineering,” as I doubt that program offers anything you couldn’t accomplish at most other universities. Moreover, I checked out the website for Wentworth’s electromechanical engineering program and saw that it was a five-year program, and I’m not sure it’s worth it to tack on a fifth year for what’s essentially a glorified EE degree. Electromechanical systems and microelectromechanical systems are most closely related to electrical engineering, so I would recommend majoring in EE while taking electives in ME related to areas such as robotics and mechatronics. Alternatively, you could major in ME and take electives in EE relevant to those areas.

Ahh thankyou. I have thought about doing Mechanical and Minoring in Electrical… I am just currious to know what sort of advantages you get for Electromechanical

What kind of job do you want to get with your degree?
