Eleven units enrolled four waiting - is that okay?

I know to be a full time student you need to be enrolled in 12 units but I am currently enrolled in 11 units and wait-listed for 4. is it okay to enter at that many units? I am pretty sure I will be able to get into the class because I am in the first 10 on the wait list but should I get a back up class during open enrollment incase I don’t?

Wow. That is a good question. I would definitely call and ask about that. Your chances of getting in will depend on the class you are waiting for. I hope you get a better answer from one of the experienced students or parents. 15 units would be perfect. If you signed up for another class just in case, you would have too many if you got the waitlisted class too! I am not sure about signing up and then driopping the class if you get the one you want. I guess that would work too. Is there another class you would be able to take? Just thinking(and typing) out loud here…good luck!

I would go ahead and try to add another class that doesn’t create a time conflict with the class you are waiting for. The if you get in the one you are waitlisted for, you can drop the one you don’t really want.

Sign up for a one unit fun class, such as bowling. It’s Kineseology 109 or something like that. You can always drop it when you are officially admitted into the class you are currently waitlisted. My son was thinking about adding bowling and karate to get to 12 units, but then he was able to enroll in English 149 so he didn’t have to.

Can a student add another class if, with the waitlisted class, he/she would be over 16 units? I did not think you could do that.

Starting Monday, Aug 23, max units are increased to 22 units for all students, so adding a class now, then getting into another next week (off the waitlist) is fine. Waitlisted classes don’t count toward max units until they become “enrolled”.

Thanks. Good to know.

Thanks! I decided to enroll in another class and I actually think I might keep this class instead of waiting for my other one to open up :). random extra question - there was a class I was looking at, stats, with 14 people enrolled and 21 open seats and one person on the wait list. I know they save seats for transfers but isn’t that a little excessive?
