Must be enrolled in 12 units...?

I am officially enrolled in two classes and one seminar, making a total of 9 units. I am waitlisted for two classes, one of which I emailed the professor about and he responded saying that the class will be made bigger to accommodate those on the waitlist, so I know I'm guaranteed a seat there, and another is a GE class that I have a a high position for and I refuse to relinquish that position.

When it says I must be enrolled in 12 units, and that waitlisted classes do not count, what happens when the session starts and I'm not enrolled in 12 units? (There is the possibility that people will drop the classes I am waitlisted only after the fall quarter starts, meaning that I will be going into the fall quarter with 9 units.) What consequences does this hold? Will I be kicked out of my dorm or something?

I cannot add more classes, because, paradoxically, the waitlisted classes count toward a unit limit for the quarter.

My friend was in a similar situation a couple quarters ago, but I’m pretty sure there’s a grace period–but if you aren’t admitted soon (within the next week or so) you will be dropped to part-time student status, and your housing contract can be rescinded. :/

For me, I didn’t get all of my financial aid distributed until AFTER I enrolled in 12 units. But when I called the financial aid office and they said even if I pay more, due to the late distribution of my loans and grants, I would get the excess money I paid back. Uh… but the lady didn’t sound so sure though :/

Good luck! Take a lot of freshman seminars - I’m taking 3 or 4!
