Eligible to transfer to UCLA?

Hello, I am planning to apply as a transfer student to UCLA for fall 2014 but I had a question. I am currently a student at USC and I will complete 53 units by the end of spring 2014 before I attend UCLA if I get accepted. But I was actually a community college student who transferred to USC with 38 units. If I add the units I will finish at USC with the units I completed at the community college it will equal to 91 units (53+38=91). UCLA accepts transfer students with 86 units or less so will I be considered ineligible to attend UCLA? I read that students who attend a 4-year university and decide to attend a community college after are eligible to apply to UCLA as long as they didn't exceed 86 units at the 4-year university. But for my case, it's the opposite. I attended a community college and then transferred to a 4-year university. I'm wondering how UCLA would review my kind of situation? Would I be eligible to apply? Any helpful answers would be appreciated :)

In that scenario, you wouldn’t be eligible like you presumed earlier. Once you transfer to a four year university you’re perceived as four year transfer student and all of your units are going to count toward the 86 unit limit, including those previously from community college. So if you’re set on UCLA, you’re going to have to find a way to reduce your courseload so that you stay under 86 or enroll at a community college before you reach 86.

Thank you for your reply dilapidatedmind!

All of the units I take in USC will probably not be transferable because I notice that some of these courses are not comparable to UCLA. I’m really confused right now on what courses at USC I took are really transferable.

These are the courses I took so far at USC:
East Asian Languages and Cultures 315: Advanced Korean 1
East Asian Languages and Cultures 317: Advanced Korean 2
History 105: The Korean Past
American Studies and Ethnicities 301: America, the Frontier, and the New West
Judaic Studies 258: Food, Faith, and Conflict
Linguistics 110: In a Word

I believe through my review, the advanced Korean classes will probably be transferable because there are advanced Korean classes at UCLA.
But I was confused about the other courses. I looked through the UCLA catalog and there seems to be no comparable courses like the ones I took at USC other than the Korean courses.
Would these other courses be transferable?

I don’t think you can transfer as a Senior. The other issue is that since USC is a private, some of the classes may not transfer over. You’ll have to check with UCLA to see if your classes have an equivalent at LA.
