So I contacted my lodge as suggested. They said there was no local scholarship and that they sent 6 applications to the state level but they did not announce who moved from the local level up. :(

So....I won't find out until the end of February.

ugghhh so apparently my mom gave me the wrong amount for financial portion.. the number she gave me was like an extra 10,000.. theres no way to correct it is there?

^^I talked to my lodge guy today.
They take the local winners to the state level at the end of Feburary, or at least Illinois does. I guess I'm pretty lucky because our local guy also judges state wide as well.

I just called my local lodge and MY APPLICATION MOVED ON!!!! lol I am very excited AND they have a local scholarship as well! The guy couldn't say if I won that but he said he was confident that my application would move on after the local level too!!! :)

lol well the guy at first was kind of apprehensive about telling me information until I gave him my name and said OH you're from this school right?! And then said my application was really good and it would almost certainly keep advancing so I was really glad I called it just made my day! lol

Did you try calling your local lodge? I didn't get anything in the mail yet but the only way I know that my application advanced is because I called and asked the guy lol local judging had to be finished by January 29th so judging is complete its just whether or not they sent out the notifications to the applicants yet.

When I called my Lodge, they said that they're looking at the applications for local scholarships next month and then sending them into the next level afterwards.. (if they qualify? idk). I guess my Lodge uses the MVS app for their own Lodge awards, which are separate from the competition (aka. not local awards for MVS, although they give those out as well, I think).

I would double check on that because I think your lodge has mistaken....lol but yea a lot of lodges just use the mvs application for their own local scholarship

yay! I got my letter today saying I advanced to the next level. however, my lodge doesn't give out their own scholarship, so no check came in the mail.

I read it online and the guy at my local lodge said judging MUST be completed by January 29th. And I am not sure about the second part of your question but my lodge said you are notified either way but that may not be the case for all local lodges.

Well, when I called, the lady made it pretty clear that they were starting to judge apps in February, so they might have just forwarded them all to the district (our district can't be that big; I'm from a rural state) and kept copies to judge for local Lodge scholarships.

We get notified about local Lodge scholarships in a month or two and find out about the National competition through probably District or State.. not the Lodge. So, don't expect to be notified through the Lodge if you've moved from that level because it's not a requirement.

You know what would be cool, though? If they put an online tracker of people's applications that you could log into and see where you're at.

Yea that would be pretty cool if they could do that! But ya you have a good point they may have forwarded them all to districts or maybe they are the place that district judging takes place. Like I said before, I wish this scholarship was a bit more organized with deadlines and notifications lol

thanks dairy10. i agree about the organization. reading past threads about this scholarship makes me nervous that i wont find out anything until april. or that my lodge will forget:0
