Does anyone know what the average GPA for students accepted as transfers is to the Elliott School. I'm hoping to transfer, but I know how difficult it is to get in. I have a 3.6 right now...

I am not sure what the average is for Elliott, but for transfers overall it is 3.5. I cannot imagine Elliott being any higher than a 3.6.

Is elliott harder to get into?

Yes, Elliott is the hardest program to get into at GW. I spoke to them the other day and they confirmed that with me. They told me that the 3.6 was fine, and I do know of a girl on here who got in with a 3.6, but I haven't seen her around.

Why is the elliot school so difficult??

bump- can anyone answer retro's question? i'm curious.

I think because it is one of the most highly rated programs for IR in the country.

Undergraduate is ranked number 10 while their graduate program is ranked 8. Not bad at all, so of course it's not going to be very easy to get into.

Actually, I think I had read that the GW's Elliott School undergraduate program was rated higher than it's graduate program. Maybe number five or six?

No, it's graduate program is rated higher than it's undergraduate program. That's usually the case.

If you are applying undergraduate (not transferring) how hard is it to get into elliot? I'm hoping to get in, but I'm not sure how hard it is exactly. Is it the same as the rest of the university?

No, it's not the same. Like many schools, GWU is broken up into different colleges, each specializing in their own program. The Elliott School is the most selective, and that's what has me worried.

Ok. Well good luck to the both of us then. I'll need it at least.

I think you'll be ok dude, it is I who needs the luck

hey, so did you guys end up getting in or what? i'm pretty much in the same boat, transfer student, 3.68 gpa, etc
