I recently took my junior in HS daughter to Illinois and the Chicago area to visit colleges for acting programs. We visited several schools that would be expected (Illinois, DePaul, Roosevelt) but also visited Elmhurst college in the suburbs. It seemed like a very nice school. The facilities for theatre were not as extensive as other schools, but the people were very warm and pleasant. We sat in on an acting class and dance class and the instruction seemed quality. Does anyone on the forum know what kind of reputation Elmhurst has in the Chicago theatre community? Are the students respected and competitive for jobs? My D really liked it, but we just aren’t sure.
I am assuming from the lack of response, that either Elmhurst is not well represented on this forum or they do not have a lot people working in Chicago to develop a good reputation for training. I thought I would just check again. Anyone with thoughts on Elmhurst?
Check on the Musical Theater forum - there are more people there, and maybe one of them is familiar with the school.
