My daughter’s first BFA Acting acceptance has been UIUC, University of Illinois,
Just a few days after Unifieds. Can anyone offer information on this program: student
Satisfaction with their overall experience, performance opportunities, preparedness for
Life after school, scholarships along the way (seems low to begin with), competitiveness
To get in, etc.
Thank you!
My high school’s director of theatre and fine arts is a U of I BFA acting grad. He had a fairly successful professional career after graduation and is very well known for his teaching in the Chicagoland area. I have a lot of friends who go through that department as well since it is so close to where I live and all are very satisfied. An alumni from my high school who went through U of I now runs his own theatre company in Chicago only a couple of years after graduation which is successful and was named one of chicago’s “Hot New Faces” on the theatre scene. He is constantly performing and producing shows through his company. U of I’s staff is very good and very tough! You will get a really good education there if you choose to go!
Thanks so much for responding; that was a very helpful response. Question: if my daughter is interested in talking or emailing someone who is there now or a recent grad, do you think anyone you know would be willing to share their experience and answer questions?
I have a really close friend there at the moment doing their Stage Management program but knows a lot about the acting program as well and has friends who would be able to add on. I’ll ask her and PM you her email!
