Elon Auditions/Acceptances MT 2012

Has anyone else (who has not been called) not been able to view their admission decision online?

I am still able to go on my d’s admission page. Have not received a call. My husband spoke to the musical director today and they said they everyone will hear via the internet. He caught the impression that not everyone would be called. A glimmer of hope maybe since this is my d’s first choice. They obviously seemed to be changing policies if they are pre-screening next year. Has anyone else heard this regarding internet notification versus calls??

So OnTrack admission status is up. Anyone know if Wait List means MT wait list? or is there also wait list of general academic admission?

Found answer, have to click on audition link

My D was on the wait list as well but I believe (despite the language of the audition language) the wait list applies to the MT program. Am going to call to today to confirm. Her profile still lists major as MT and technically there is no current spot hence the wait list. Does anyone else have specific knowledge directly from Elon meaning otherwise.

Waitlisted also, good luck everyone!

Ok- Just kidding…rejected for MT waitlisted for Elon maybe? Thats just CRUEL Elon, you need a clearer system.

we were told late morning that an email was going to be sent to the MT folks on the waiting list (I quess as opposed to those who were rejected for mt but waitlisted for Elon). Has anyone received this MT waiting list email which was suppose to describe the process. The student (apparently the director took today off probably for fear of the flood of calls) indicated that the email would go out around 1 pm eastern time, Has anyone received such an email and if so can you tell me what the process is. Thanks.

I got a rejection email and it specifically said that “we do not operate on a wait list”… Im guessing this means that any waitlisting is for the university not the MT program. :(

Danicw,

Elon does have a waitlist for MT. Those students received the note in their OnTrack Performing Arts Audition Info slot showing they were waitlisted and the need to accept waitlist consideration. Later they should have received a followup email with an explanation of the waitlist process. There is a separate Admission Slot on OnTrack which clarifies academic admission. Perhaps you should double check both slots. We do know that if a student is not accepted academically, the student cannot be considered for the MT program. Hope this helps everyone understand the waitlist situation at Elon for MT.

Hmmm ok well sorry if i caused any confusion! There must have been a misprint or miswording in my email. Its subject was definitely my MT decision (i was already accepted to the university and the email was from the MT chair and prior to the phrase i quoted was the usual polite MT rejection) good luck to everyone and congrats to all those accepted! :)

Ahhhhh, well, there you go. Sounds like there might be a few folks who will be wondering about the conflicting wording. I’m sorry to hear of your nonacceptance for MT, but still congrats on the academic acceptance to an excellent school. Good luck to you through the process!

So are the waitlists for the program or the school? Still confused

It appears the waitlist would be for the program if you found the notice in the Performance Arts Audition slot within OnTrack.

I went back and reread my daughter’s On Track, and it says they are not doing a waitlist for MT. We were confused also, but it was clearly stated on the audition page. So I guess that means the waitlist is for the academic portion.

From what I understand, there is an MT wait list, but it seems that they aren’t telling anyone but those who were placed on the wait list. Seems strange. I wonder why they do that.

This is what it said on my daughter’s OnTrack performing arts status:

"Dear ----,

The Performing Arts faculty would like to thank you for auditioning for entrance into the Music Theatre Program(s). Each year we have far more quality auditions than we have spaces available.

In order to maintain the quality of instruction and provide adequate performance opportunities for all of our students, we regrettably must limit the number of positions in each class. While you gave a good audition, we are unable to offer you a place in our program. Please be aware that we do not operate on a wait list. Also, please note that, due to the large number of auditions, we are not able to provide individual feedback to candidates on their audition.

Please accept my best wishes for your future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Fredrick J. Rubeck
Chair, Department of Performing Arts"

If anyone received the above mentioned message in the audition section, they were rejected for MT but are wait listed for Elon general admission. There is the notice that my D received. There are several students who received a different email message in the audition section that indicates that they were put on a MT wait list and would get a decision by June 1st. It appears that only those that were placed on the MT waiting list received this alternative email under the audition process section. Best of luck to those on this list.

I wanted to correct an earlier posting. Elon intended to switch to precsreen auditions, but has decided to put that off for at least another year due to logistical concerns.
