Elon Class of 2025 Admissions

Son accepted with Presidential Scholarship. We live in NC just 50 minutes away from campus…which means that it might be a tad to close to home for him. But he really loved the campus and was excited about the international studies major. He is going to the Fellows program.

I’m not totally sure of my D’s stats but I know she is in the top 10% of her class and has many APs and ECs with leadership roles. Not sure if she submitted SATs but they were in the 1300s. We visited last spring (pre-Covid.)

D got in with $4,500 merit. Can’t figure out how they decide on merit after looking at some of the other posts.

3.9 UW/ 5.0 W
1360 SAT
top 10%
lots os AP, AICE diploma
good ECs, job
toured campus in the fall

Not sure how it’s decided. Seems like visiting the school may have been a factor but who knows?

oh boy I think we’ve all been there…

My daughter got in but no merit $. She got into other, more competitive colleges, with merit $. Not sure how it’s decided.

UW 3.9/W 4.2
1440 SAT (690 math/750 English)
Over 200 hours community service
Multiple clubs (but no sports)
NHS
Only 3 APs all the rest Honors classes

Is it a waste for her to apply to Communications Fellow if they didn’t think she deserved merit?

Son was accepted with merit (presidential scholarship).

UW 4.0/W 4.2
33 ACT (did not take SAT)
only 6 APs, but lots of Honors classes
Musician involved in numerous ensembles with state and national music awards
Intended major - Audio Production - submitted a portfolio and an audition (there is a chance he could get additional scholarship money from the Music department after they review all auditions this Spring)

Edit to add that we did not visit - only did 1 virtual visit this past May.

Communications Fellow program is fantastic…I think she should still apply and give it her best. Good luck!

Also remember that Elon’s sticker price is relatively lower than other peer schools. So the merit aid comes out lower, too. For my son (current sophomore, earned the Engagement scholarship), his merit aid at Elon was lower, but proportional, to his other offers.

Looks like it comes out to just over $51,000 without personal expenses & travel, so it’s up there. It was closer to $36,000 when my older daughter got in back in 2013. They’ve gone up quite a bit. Even $6k off doesn’t really do much.

My daughter is class of 2023 Elon College Fellow. I would definitely suggest applying for a Fellows spot. I think this year is a bizarre admissions year with stats all over the place some being deferred, some not getting merit. I’m sure the Fellows process will be very different than 2 years ago since it was in person with an interview and seminar with an on the spot writing assignment Have your child spend time on the Fellows application and put forth their best effort. Good luck !!

My daughter was accepted with renewable Engagement Scholarship ($4500) and a $2000 grant. She has 3.95 UW, did not send ACT, close to 200 hours of volunteer hours, really strong essays and letters of rec (we moved to NC this summer after junior year and her college counselor from old HS wrote one as well as new counselor.)
She’s very excited. We are less so due to cost, but it’s less than UChicago where our son attends…
She is debating a state school with social work major, so not sure if she will accept offer since they don’t have social work. She is waiting on NC State, which doesn’t release until late January. However, she was very impressed with internship options and support. She will apply for either a Scholars or Fellows program - she’s looking into them now.
I’m really happy for her - we both fell in love with the school when we visited, similar to her brother when he visited his school for the first time.

just adding on here as another CLE mom with a daughter in the class of 2024. It seems that every year Elon attracts a great group of kids from the Cleveland area -especially from the east side.

Elon must recruit there? I’m in Columbus where hardly anyone has heard of Elon; I had never heard of it until S19’s college search (he is a soph at Elon). They don’t come to our school (understandable, it’s small, and the vast majority of graduates stay in state) or college fairs from what I have seen.

They definitely recruit in CLE. My son attends an all boys private school on the east side of CLE and they visit every year there as well as other schools in the area.

Hi 1stof3 - Yes, my son was accepted ED and received a welcome packet about a week later.

Thanks @pghphoenix25. He got it - 3 weeks later. Was a bit surprised though - a white folder with a printed out version of online acceptance letter and 1 pager on “next steps” which didn’t say much…
